Sewer system evaluation & pump station design

We carried out a hydraulic analysis to determine which additional pumping heads needed to discharge into the forcemain and designed a complete pump station retrofit.

The Lansdowne sewer in the City of Coquitlam experienced surcharge that resulted in overflow of a grease trap under a nearby restaurant. The main contributing flows to the surcharging were from a nearby poultry processing plant.

The team carried out a hydraulic analysis to determine which additional pumping heads needed to discharge into the forcemain. We designed a complete pump station retrofit to replace mechanical equipment, pumps and piping in the existing pump station.

The pump station retrofit was completed within 48 hours to coincide with a weekend shutdown of the poultry processing plant. The city diverted flow and the contractor removed and replaced the mechanical equipment, pumps, piping and made modifications to the electrical system.
