Bulkley River Bank Protection

Design, construction management and record documentation for bank protection

This project addressed about 500m of erosion protection measures along the Bulkley Riverbank in Telkwa, while protecting fish habitat.

Opus DaytonKnight made sure that all construction work was undertaken to meet the requirements of federal and provincial environmental agencies to minimize disturbance to fish habitat.

The work was fast tracked and carried out in winter to beat anticipated high river levels the following spring. A typical cross section was developed to eliminate the need to excavate or place rock in the river water and some large existing trees were retained to provide shade for fish.
