Meeting increasing water demand

The Dickson Lake floating pump station and piping serve as the backup water source for the City of Abbotsford and the District of Mission.

In addition to increasing capacity, the upgrades also serve to minimize the operational maintenance work at the lake. The work included mainly the installation of three floating HDPE pipes of 170m x 600mm diameter and one of 160m x 900mm diameter pipe, attached with rock anchors every 4.5m to the lake outlet channel.

The work took place in an environmentally sensitive area and a fish bearing waterway. Water supply to the city was maintained during the entire construction period.
