Quality water supply for north Oyster Bay homes

Communities on both sides of Oyster Bay previously got their water from private systems or from the South Pender Harbour District Water System.

The HDPE pipe was weighted with concrete anchors, floated into position in the bay while filled with air, then sunk by filling the pipe with water. The project was constructed in 2010.

Communities on both sides of Oyster Bay previously obtained their water from private systems or from the South Pender Harbour District Water System via 50mm diameter plastic lines crossing Oyster Bay with services from this line along the waterfront.

Water quality and infrastructure for this system were sub-standard, so the communities had been on standing boil water advisory.
