We offer a comprehensive range of wastewater management solutions

We have earned a reputation for technical ability, innovation, process understanding, practical solutions and excellent client relationships.

Opus specializes in wastewater treatment engineering. We work with mainly public sector clients to provide innovative, award winning treatment options. Our teams designed many of the wastewater treatment facilities in the Province of British Columbia, including the province's largest secondary treatment plant outside of Greater Vancouver - the Joint Abbotsford Matsqui Environmental System (JAMES).

Our wastewater capability and experience includes:

  • Liquid Waste Management and Wastewater Master Planning
  • Wastewater Treatment Facilities
  • Biosolids Management
  • Resource recovery
  • Odour Control
  • Outfalls
  • Pumping Stations

We have designed over 300 pumping stations. We provide detailed engineering services for the planning and design of water, well water, wastewater and drainage pumping stations for municipal and industrial clients.

We have led many multi-disciplinary teams to complete Liquid Waste Management Infrastructure, integrating planning and design services for process, electrical, mechanical and SCADA. We also provide design and management services for biosolids, and we have the specialty skills and a proven track record in recovering resources from wastewater and other types of organic urban waste. We have broad experience in odour control, in both wastewater treatment plants and wastewater collection systems. We are familiar with a wide range of in-plant foul air treatment technologies, from complex multistage processes for treatment of highly corrosive gases to simple biofilter systems for less aggressive airstreams.

Our team also has extensive experience with outfalls, including river, lake and ocean discharges. Outfalls are a specialist area for us and we have designed and supervised construction of numerous challenging outfall projects, including relationships with highly qualified specialist sub-consultants who are engaged on an as-needed basis.
