Disposing of secondary treated effluent
Following a two month long oceanographic study to evaluate currents along the 20km recreational coastline, a site was selected off French Creek to dispose of effluent from a relatively small population.
The outfall is 500mm polyethylene pipe with a multiport steel diffuser arm. It extends 2035m into the Strait of Georgia to discharge at a depth of 62.5m.
Continuing post monitoring of beach coliform levels has confirmed the success of the outfall at integrating effluent into the offshore currents of the Strait.
